As a family owned winery with California farming roots dating back four generations, tending the land with care and respect has always been in the forefront of our hearts and minds. After taking a long, hard look at our vineyard lands, our winery and our company, we discovered dozens of ways – both large and small – we could modify our operations to benefit the environment.
One of those ways was installing one of the largest solar electric systems in the wine world in 2003, generating enough energy to power 800 homes and reducing our dependence on the power grid by 35%. Additionally, custom lighting systems use motion sensors and energy efficient light fixtures to reduce energy use, minimize heat output in climate sensitive locations and optimize light quality. In 2009, we became the first carbon neutral winery in Sonoma County.
Now we need your help.
Take the RSV Green Light pledge to replace just one ordinary light bulb for an energy-efficient CFL bulb, and help conserve energy and protect the environment. This simple swap will reduce your annual greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by 277 lbs.
We know that change starts with us, and by taking concerted action we can all make a difference.
- Compact fluorescents emit the same light as classic incandescents but use 75% or 80% less electricity.
- If every household in Sonoma County replaced just one bulb, it would save nearly 50 million pounds of CO2 per year.
- If every household in California replaced just one bulb, it would save over 3 billion pounds of CO2 per year.
- And if every household in the country swapped just one ordinary bulb for an energy-efficient bulb, it would save nearly 32 billion lbs of CO2 per year.

I pledge to support Rodney Strong's "RSV Green Light" by changing at least one standard light bulb with an energy efficient CFL bulb in my home or office. This is my way of helping conserve energy and protect our environment one CFL bulb at a time.
Change starts with me because the environment really does matter.
